The quintet Montreal Hard Bop 5 (MTL HB5) will release its first album on the label The 270 sessions next June. The Montreal record company quickly recruited the five experienced musicians. Nicolas Hamel (President of the label, Ping Pong Club, Mme Lee & Newspeak) is delighted: “These musicians have been notorious in the music industry for years, you can hear the quality sound throughout the album! Their creativity and experience make us relive the jazz atmosphere of the 60s and their compositions lead the style to new horizons.”
This new association with The 270 Sessions is timely with the creative processes of the band. Members feel privileged to sign a contract with producers who are not afraid to add new sounds to their jazz offers, while keeping a clear vision and a well-thought perspective of the future. It explains why the MTL HB5’s members have committed to producing an album a year to ensure the success of its series of shows. Inspired by hard bop since they attended the faculty of music, the performances of the group are a clear demonstration of the energy that brings them together.
